Who Moves Australia? report now available

The Australian Logistics Council have recently launched their new data report, Who Moves Australia? Workforce Participation in Australian Transport and Logistics.

Sponsored by Queensland Transport and the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council, this report identifies the number of people employed within the Australian economy whose jobs involve, either wholly or in part, T&L activities. Launched at the ALC forum 13 February 2009, this report provides a comprehensive picture of the totality of the T&L sector.

Hanjin to Develop Vietnam Box Terminal

Hanjin Shipping has announced plans to develop and operate its first container terminal in Vietnam. The company said it signed a joint-venture agreement with Saigon New Port for the development of a new dedicated container terminal in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, about 45 miles from Ho Chi Minh City. The proposed facility, Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Container Terminal, is slated to open in the first quarter of 2011. It will have a total quay length of 590 meters and draft of 14.5 meters, with annual capacity of 1.15 million TEUs.

 


Microsoft launches supply chain center of excellence with Infosys

Microsoft, together with Infosys, has launched a Supply Chain Center of Excellence recently. The Center is the first initiative from the two companies following the inking of an alliance aimed at lending a helping hand to manufacturers when it comes down to the complex management process associated with global supply chains. The Supply Chain Center of Excellence is available immediately to manufacturers worldwide, with the two companies aiming to introduce nothing more than social networking to a community of supply chain decision makers, professionals and experts. Microsoft is promising that manufactures will be able to take advantage of new capabilities designed to boost performance management, but also analytics and collaboration solutions and even event-based exception management.
